Our Products

Start small

It’s generally best to begin with the smallest recommended amount and gradually increase as your pet adjusts.

Keep an eye out

After each amount, monitor your pet’s behavior to see how they are affected. Check every 30 minutes and make note of any changes in their symptoms.

Stay on schedule

It is helpful to give them their tincture or chews at the same time every day so it’s easier to track their reactions.

Hemp Oil Tinctures can be given from a dropper bottle directly into the mouth or dropped on an animal’s paw so they will lick it off. Heelr products can be administered with or without food. Research has shown both methods to provide similar absorption results.

Heelr products should be stored in a cool dry place (room temperature and cooler, but not refrigerator) with no direct sunlight.

About Hemp and CBD

The cannabis plant contains hundreds of compounds called cannabinoids. CBD (or cannabidiol) is a cannabinoid without any mind-altering effects. Recent data from Cornell University has shown that CBD supplementation can have therapeutic effects in dogs.

There are many factors involved in finding the most therapeutic amount of CBD for your pet. It can also depend on the specific condition you are using CBD to help with. There is NOT always an immediate, drastic effect. Every animal responds differently to CBD, and we encourage you to start small and go slow. Always observe your pet closely after giving them a new product.

Hemp-derived CBD is not psychoactive, and it has been found to have no unpleasant side effects. CBD supplementation has been studied in dogs at concentrations up to 16mg/kg a day without serious adverse events reported. Based on this science, CBD when used as directed has not been found to have serious side effects in dogs.

From the research these products were created upon, the data shows that CBD is safe for administration in cats.

Heelr's Hemp Oil Tinctures contain only Hemp Oil and Natural Flavor. CBD oils for humans may contain additional ingredients not appropriate, or possibly harmful, to pets.

Though Hemp-derived CBD is non-psychoactive, it was classified as a Schedule 1 Drug, even in states that have legalized cannabis for human medical purposes, until late 2018. This means that until late 2018, vets could have been penalized and potentially lose their license for advising pet owners on CBD oil. Few were willing to take the risk.

As with anything regarding your pet’s diet, it is wise to contact your veterinarian. It is recommended that you consult with a veterinarian before use to ensure your pet is in suitable health for supplementation of CBD.

After each amount, monitor your pet’s behavior to see how they are affected. Check every 30 minutes and make note of any changes in their symptoms. Contact your vet with any concerns or call the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at 1-888-426-4435.

CBD can have an effect on various prescription medications, so it is vital that you speak to your veterinarian to discuss potential contraindications prior to offering these treats.

Dry Mouth

Research on humans has shown that CBD can decrease the production of saliva. For dogs, this would manifest as an increased thirst.

Lowered Blood Pressure

High doses of CBD in humans has been known to cause a temporary drop in blood pressure. Even though the drop is small, it might create a brief feeling of light-headedness.

Drowsiness

Dog owners have used CBD to support mood. The calming effect of CBD has been reported to cause slight drowsiness, especially when using higher doses.

Allergies

A number of environmental factors may cause an allergic reaction for your pet. If you suspect a Heelr product is causing your pet’s allergies, please stop administering Heelr immediately and contact you veterinarian.
